Plastics News’ Plastics Encounter trade show and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) annual technical conference, ANTEC, joined forces for the second year in a row to co-present Plastics Encounter at ANTEC. The international-scale conference and exhibition, held May 4-8, 2008, at the Milwaukee Convention Center attracted more than 3,000 attendees.

The Milwaukee Convention Center is shown in the left photo. In the middle photo (L-R) Linda Whelan, PN’s Director of Trade Shows & Marketing, SPE President William O’Connell, and SPE Executive Director Susan Oderwald cut the ribbon to officially mark the opening of the event. Within minutes, the show floor was bustling with activity (right photo).

An elegant welcome reception for all Plastics Encounter at ANTEC conference and trade show attendees, plus exhibitors, was held on Monday night at the convention center. John Berg (far left), Director of Marketing for MGS Mfg., and J.A. Lewellen, PN sales manager, shake hands in front of the ice sculpture in the photo on the left. A good time was had by all in attendance of the evening event, as shown in the middle and right photos!

More than 200 suppliers exhibited at Plastics Encounter at ANTEC. Attendees that walked the show floor had the benefit of being exposed to a well-rounded cross section of the plastics industry.

A networking reception was held on the trade show floor Tuesday afternoon. The event, sponsored by Canon, included live entertainment, free refreshments and plenty of networking!

In the photo on the left, attendees receive their InfoQuest map, which was needed to enter the contest. Harley winner Jodie Laughlin of Deco Tech sits on her bike in front of the dealership in the center photo! Supplier equipment on display throughout the show floor included a full-size bulldozer and tractor (right photo).

Attendees who stopped by the Plastics News booth were given the opportunity for some fun “Under the Big Top”. The booth included carnival games like skee ball and lucky duck that could be played for fun prizes, a chance in the money machine, and the opportunity to sign up for free PN e-mail products.
