AKRON, OHIO (January 17, 2001) – Navigating
a trade show will never be the same now that Plastics
Encounter Boarding Passes are on the horizon. A Boarding
Pass – the high-tech way for an attendee to tour the
plastics industry trade shows – is one of the most exciting
changes that Plastics Encounters is making to the shows
purchased last summer from Advanstar Communications.
“With the trade shows carrying a nautical theme,” explains
Linda Whelan, director of trade shows and marketing,
“it only makes sense that attendees need a ‘Boarding
Pass.’”
The boarding pass is actually a small card that registered
attendees and exhibitors will receive on site. The card
holds a computer chip that carries information of benefit
to both exhibitor and attendee.
Attendees can accumulate points for activities including
preregistering, viewing SPI’s Economic Report, participating
in research, using “Surf City” (the cyber cafe), visiting
sponsor booths, and more. They can then redeem the points
for free merchandise at the “Ship’s Store.”
Exhibitors can take advantage of the Boarding Pass by
renting one of two lead retrieval systems. These exhibitors
benefit from increased booth traffic (because attendees
earn boarding points from visiting booths of exhibitors
and sponsors using a lead retrieval system), better
lead retrieval and more options for contact during and
after the show.
The boarding passes can be used for three years, beginning
with Plastics Encounter Los Angeles in Los Angeles,
CA, April 10-12, 2001. Other planned shows for 2001
include Cleveland (June 19-21) and Atlanta (November
13-15).
A limited number of sponsorships are available for the
Boarding Pass. For more information, contact Linda Whelan
at (330) 865-6103.
